Artist Ellen Kaiden showcases the natural world in 14-large-scale paintings on exhibit this month at Katharine Butler Gallery. Each is bursting with the colors of life. in the artist’s words, these images reflect her “never-ending awe of nature and the miracles that surround us – the incredible pulse of life that powers the world.” The beauty Kaiden depicts is more than a random splash of color. “I’m interested in nature’s architecture,” she says. “I’m moved by the structure behind the beauty – and fascinated with how a fragile-seeming flower could be so sturdily constructed and so powerful to perceive. I hope the viewer feels that same fascination.” Through Feb. 9 at Katherine Butler Gallery, 1943 Morrill St., Sarasota; 955-4546.
