“Art in the Park”

The 18th Annual “Art In The Park” juried exhibition and sale will be held at the University Park Country Club on March 10 and 11. More than 30 local artists will present recent art works to compete for cash awards. You will be able to purchase items directly from the artists. Visitors can vote for “The People’s Choice” award, highly coveted by the artists.
More than 30 artists in residence will participate in this year’s Art In The Park. Many of the artists exhibit nationally and are award winners. Works of fine art will include paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache and multimedia. Photographers will present subjects covering figurative, still life and scenic images. Sculptors will exhibit works in metal and clay. Artists will also offer prints and cards of their fine art pieces.
This year’s jurors are: Gloria Pearse – certified by the Professional Photographers of America, Gloria has won Florida education, regional and national print awards and has over 20 years of portrait, wedding, food and fine art photography experience; Tim Jaeger – a Sarasota artists, educator, and frequent juror who is currently on the staff of the Ringling College of Art and Design, responsible for campus and community engagement; and Jamie Friedli – a professional artist since 1964, a teacher, award winner, and holder of leadership positions in numerous artist organizations.
The show will be open to the viewing public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Works for sale will be both two and three-dimensional fine art. More than 2,500 visitors are expected to visit the beautiful blue and white gazebo-like tent, open rain or shine. Parking will be available in the near-by club lot. Entrance is free. Come and view the art and stay for lunch in club dining room adjacent to the gazebo.
